01 / Start with the essentials

Gather stable information in a short document. Keep the title, credits and runtime consistent throughout. If the film is still being edited, clearly identify the version you are sharing.

  • Original and international titles, year, production country, runtime and language(s).
  • Filmmaker names, production company if applicable and an authorised contact.
  • A short synopsis: character or subject, situation and stakes, without promotional slogans.
  • A director’s statement: perspective, creative approach and filmmaking choices.

02 / Make the film accessible

Use a stable, private viewing link, protected when appropriate. State its expiry date and subtitle availability. Test it on a device that is not logged into your account.

Do not send large files before checking the recipient’s process. Screening specifications vary between festivals; only their own rules are authoritative.

03 / Anticipate practical questions

Prepare the details that place the film and its presentation conditions in context. Only describe a premiere, award or selection as secured when confirmed.

  • Screening history and any premiere restrictions.
  • Available screening version, aspect ratio, sound and subtitles.
  • Credits and permissions for images, music and third-party material.
  • A short biography, relevant filmography and photographs authorised for publication.

04 / Adapt, then check

Read the target festival’s rules: eligibility, length, territory, deadlines, possible fees and requested rights. A package does not replace those criteria and never guarantees selection.

No open call is currently underway at Festival du Cinéma. Our contact welcomes general questions and proposals; it is not a registration or selection procedure.
